10 SELF CARE TIPS TO SHOW YOURSELF LOVE THIS VALENTINE’S DAY

February is the season of love! However, celebrating that love isn’t reserved for those in a coupled relationship. Instead of thinking that LOVE has to be defined as something to share with another person, let’s shift that mentality to make LOVE truly about loving ourselves first and foremost!

Here are our top 10 tips to celebrate loving you for the month of February, and throughout the year whenever you are need some “you” time to restore and reconnect. At its heart, the best relationship you can be happy in is the relationship you have with yourself.

1. PAMPER YOURSELF

Give yourself an at-home spa day. Take a bath, do your nails, try an at-home facial or body scrub, turn on a YouTube fitness video, or visit a local hotel with a spa that you can buy yourself a day pass.

2. DRINK MORE WATER

The key to beautiful skin and the ultimate inner cleanse comes in the simplest of forms: water! Alkaline water has a higher pH than traditional tap water, alkalinizing the body and circulatory system. Clean cells create a vibrant glow in our skin. A Dafi Glass Pitcher with an alkaline filter makes it easy and eco-friendly to drink more cleansing water right in your own home, converting your tap water into high-quality H2O.

3. MAKE A NOURISHING MEAL FOR YOURSELF

The energy we put into a meal can convert into beautiful energy that we consume in our bodies. When we take the time to make a meal that is made with love, we’ll ultimately feel the love inside our gut and digestive system. Plus, it’s much better than going out for a meal, because you’re prepping and eating exactly what you want!

4. CALL OR HANGOUT WITH A FRIEND

Being around friends and people who love you can be a great way to uplift your spirits. Reminding ourselves that we are loved, single, coupled, or even complicated.

5. JOURNAL OUT WHAT YOU’RE GRATEFUL FOR

Gratitude is the cure for any feeling of lack. When you take the time to look around see all that you DO have, you’re less likely to feel like you have a hole that’s missing something in order to feel complete.

6. DO SOMETHING THAT MAKES YOU SMILE

Have a favorite movie you always laugh at? Watch it. Love dancing to music in your home? Crank the music up. Love to be in nature and ground? Take a hike, sit on the beach, or go for a walk outside (depends on what climate you’re in).

7. DO NOTHING…REALLY.

When’s the last time you weren’t looking at your phone for the next new notification, or buzzing in your car to the next meeting? Just chill…disconnect from the world to reconnect to your self. Most important, be OK with doing nothing — you deserve that too!

8. MEDITATE OR PRACTICE YOGA

Both are ultimate forms of self connection and care, which can go hand in hand. There are so many videos you can find online today to practice both with skilled guides. Here is a link to the Live Free Warrior channel. Plus, yoga connects the mind and the body, connecting you to your deeper needs and appreciating the beautiful person you are, as you are.

9. DO SOMETHING THAT HELPS YOU TO DESTRESS

Movement, breathing, laughing, cleaning up your home, or cleaning out your kitchen…we all have our things that make us go “ahhh” — so, book the time and do it! After, feel accomplished in whatever it is you achieved to better YOU.

10. TAKE A BREAK FROM SOCIAL MEDIA

If you still feel like you’re missing out on something not being in a relationship or having a perfect one at that (which, by the way, no relationship is perfect, no matter how great social media makes them appear to be), stay off the temptation platforms that can lead you to compare and contrast your life to others. Yours is perfect, as you are creating it, so be grateful for all of that you ARE and have!

There’s our top 10 tips to self-care this Valentine’s Day season. Wishing you all a happy month of SELF love, February and beyond!
