Beach Bag Essentials

Well It’s officially summer and we are headed to the beach in Florida. My husband's family has gone to the same beach every year since he was a kid and I have been lucky enough to join a few times in the years since we started dating. This is our first year going as a married couple and we are so excited to just get away and relax for a week. That being said, y'all know I always have to be prepared otherwise I get overwhelmed so I am making sure to have my beach bag (This is the bag I'm using this year!) packed with ALL the essentials so when I get down to the beach I don't have to make trips back up to the house. Here are the things that make my beach days much more enjoyable and stress-free.

1. Sunscreen: An obvious one. I am mostly concerned with keeping sun off of my face to prevent premature aging. This sunscreen from Drunk Elephant is my favorite because it has a little bit of a tint so it does not give you that gross white cast on your skin, and it is SPF 30. It's easy to reapply as well! I also love this one from Supergoop.

2. Hat or visor: Again, a way to keep the sun off of my face and honestly to cover up how gross my hair gets in the humidity. Here are some of my faves: visor hat

3. AirPods: These were a gift from my in-laws last Christmas and they have been a game changer for me. I am constantly moving around (not so much on the beach) and I love being able to listen to podcasts or music without worrying about cords or having my phone on me. On the beach I'm big about listening to podcasts, and I think this year I'll also listen to music since I'm going to have to be studying some and I like to study with music on in the background.

4. Water bottle: This water bottle from Dafi is AMAZING. It has a carbon filter in it, so gross Florida tap water (y'all know what I'm talking about) becomes purified and actually tastes good so I can stay hydrated while laying in the sun. The filter removes chlorine and heavy metals but preserves necessary minerals like Calcium and Magnesium. One filter is able to replace up to 300 single serve water bottles- so not only does your water taste better but it is so much more environmentally friendly. I'm always reminded at the beach not to be wasteful! (Y'all can use code "natdaddieco" for 20% off on the Dafi website).

5. Towel: Again, obviously.

6. Beach Chair: This chair has been amazing y'all. It’s from amazon and the head/foot parts adjust so you can make sit in all kinds of positions. I like that it folds up and has a shoulder strap. PLUS, the pillow folds over to reveal a face hole so you can tan laying on your stomach without hurting your neck.

7. Book: I always have a book on the beach. I personally love being entertained by diving into someone else's story. It keeps me relaxed and It’s a way to get off electronics for the day.

8. Sunnies: I am obsessed with having different kinds of sunglasses. For me, it is a way to accessorize and style a beach outfit and hide tired, make-up free eyes. Also, they cover up the fact my eyes aren't always open in pictures! Here are some that I wear often: sunnies 1 sunnies 2 sunnies 3 sunnies 4 (these are a similar pair to ones I got last year from madewell)

9. Sandals: These sandals are my favorite for every day. I wear them in the yard, running errands, to the gym (because I change into spin shoes), and at the lake or beach because 1) they float and 2) they are super easy to wipe clean. They are also water proof and just the easiest go-to slip on shoe that is also super cute and trendy.

10. Last but not least, I have to have a scrunchie to hold my hair back on the beach. A lot of times I will get my hair wet in the water but I don't always want to and it makes me too hot if It’s down. Especially when my hair is longer, I'm always tempted to put it up in a bun and I love scrunchies the most because they don't give me headaches.

So that's it friends! I hope you get a chance to head to the beach (or pool, or lake) this summer and that you found some new essentials to bring with you. Remember to relax and enjoy your time with family or friends if you do go on a trip. As always thanks for reading!

XO
