Creating a Healthy Morning Routine

Want to be at the top of your game for the day ahead? One of the best ways is to create a good, healthy and consistent morning routine.

The morning is the fresh start to a new blank page of your life’s story. Your morning routine can help to set the tone and pace for the productivity and mood for the day ahead.

Here are some tips to help you create a healthy morning routine to get you off on the right side of the bed, no matter what the day has in store for you.

Set an alarm for the same time every morning:

Keeping a consistent wake-up time will get your body on a regular schedule. There’s no real way to make up for lost sleep. Just like any diet that goes off track, the best thing you can do is pick back up where you left off and move onward.

Having a consistent wake-up time also helps to regulate your body and mind, and makes it easier to stick to the routine we have in store ahead. Read on.

Leave the phone off for at least 30-60 minutes

We’ve all been guilty of doing this: you wake up, check your phone, and see a negative email from work. Or, you check social media, see posts of others and what you’re not doing or achieving in life, and you start comparing.

Instead, stay electronic free for at least the first 30-60 minutes of your day, so YOU set the tone of what you’re grateful for and how you feel. If you can, keep your phone in a completely separate room from the bedroom or where you wake-up and meditate. Resist the temptation.

Meditate or Journal (Gratitude)

10 minutes of meditation can greatly impact your overall well-being. While there is no perfect time to meditate, doing it first thing in the day can ensure no other activity will take up your schedule or become an excuse.

If meditating truly isn’t for you (yet), try journaling. Don’t know where to begin? Write out your dreams from the night before, what the most ideal day ahead will be, or three things you’re grateful for.

(Re)Hydrate

This is a non-negotiable, the first drink of the day needs to be water. Filling up at least two glasses of filtered, fresh alkaline water helps to rehydrate you from a long nights’ fast without food or water.

Having at least two glasses in the morning of pure, clean alkaline water — which hosts a higher pH level than traditional filtered water, or tap — can increase your energy, alertness and even mood for the day ahead.

Move Your Body

Movement and breathing deeply literally moves the energy in your body, and awakens your soul. Set aside 10 minutes to stretch your body, moving and breathing getting fresh oxygen into your body. Every bit of research out there has shown that exercise and even general movement will mentally and physically benefit just about every individual.

First Meal

Starting your day off with a healthy meal can lead to a day of healthier choices. Just by starting off on the right food foot will put your mind in a more positive, healthier attitude.

Above all, the best morning routine is one that you can do on a consistent basis. Do the above routine to start your day persistently and you’ll too notice the positive benefits. Incorporating Dafi into your daily routine is another element to take better care of you and your health.
