WORLD WATER DAY - 22 FACTS ABOUT WATER AND ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH

March 22, 2020 is world water day. Water is our core, essential and passion here at Dafi. With 66% of our bodies made up of water, we believe it’s a part of your core and essentials too.

World Water Day brings awareness to sustainability and the important role of climate change and how it effects our water supply and overall health. Part of our mission at Dafi is to decrease the amount of consumer waste for drinking purified water, and increase the level of accessibility for consumers to drink filtered and alkaline water.

To celebrate and increase awareness, here’s 22 water facts to share:

.Americans drink more than one billion glasses of tap water a day.

.A person can live about a month without food, but only a week without water.

.Water expands 9% when frozen.

.1/3 of what the world spends on bottled water in one year could pay for projects providing water to everyone in need.

.1.7% of the world’s water is frozen and therefore unusable.

.Approximately 400 billion gallons of water are used in the United States per day.

.30% of fresh water is in the ground.

.68.7% of the fresh water on Earth is trapped in glaciers.

.To create one pint of beer it takes 20 gallons of water.

.It takes 120 gallons of water for one egg.

.A jellyfish and a cucumber are each 95% water.

.By 2025 half the world’s people will live in countries with high water stress.

.It takes about 12 gallons per day to sustain a human (estimating all uses of water such as sanitation, cleansing, and food production).

.Each day, we also lose a little over one cup of water when we exhale it.

.Over 90% of the world’s supply of fresh water supply is in Antarctica.

.It takes about 70 gallons of water to fill a bathtub.

.Water is the most common substance found on earth.

.If everyone in the US used just one less gallon of water per shower every day, we could save some 85 billion gallons of water per year.

.Water regulates the Earth’s temperature.

.70% of the human brain is water.

.Water weighs about 8 pounds a gallon.

.Only one small Dafi Alkaline UP cartridge can replace up to 80 regular half-gallon water bottles saving 11 ounces of plastic waste (https://store.dafi.us/recipes/behind-dafi-the-dafi-alkaline-glass-pitcher-and-filter/).

Taking these facts into play, remember to chose non-plastic options like our glass pitchers and eliminate single-use plastics for drinking, such as our filtered water bottle and bidon to take with you when on the go. Together, we all play a role in climate change and our reduction of waste, making the planet a better place to live together on.
